We provide legal, policy, and strategic planning services to ART programs on the myriad of issues involved in patient care and program design (including ART and collaborative reproduction services to intended parents, gamete donors and gestational carriers)l; embryo storage, transfer, donation and cryopreservation; egg freezing and other developing technologies; compliance issues; as well as general program liability.
We regularly advise programs on program design and review and revise consent forms and protocols for independent and hospital based ART medical programs throughout Massachusetts and the United States (with local counsel when appropriate).
Insurance coverage
~~Understanding the financial risks and seeking a guarantee of coverage~~
We, in selected cases, review insurance policies to assess coverage for IVF, egg donation, surrogacy, and other infertility-related medical expenses. We may appeal or otherwise advocate against denials of coverage where appropriate.
( As a volunteer infertility advocate, Susan Crockin was one of the Resolve of the Bay State volunteers who wrote and lobbied for the Massachusetts infertility benefits law in 1987-88, and subsequently chaired RESOLVE Inc.'s insurance advocacy committee for a number of years.)
